Five Rules for Living with a Doctor Who fan

Adapted from this brill Facebook group:

  1. Doctor Who logo (1987 version)Never speak, breathe loudly, cough or make the sofa creak from the first note of the opening theme music until the BBC logo right at the end of the credits. Doctor Who fans like to savour every bar of the iconic theme and this is never to be disrupted.
  2. Never assume that a Doctor Who fan is finished as soon as the main programme ends; Doctor Who Confidential follows on BBC Three and all true Who fans watch this
  3. Never argue about fallacies or silliness relating to Doctor Who with a fan; you will always lose said argument.
  4. If you've only been watching Doctor Who since 2005, then please take the time to acknowledge that there actually was a show before this; it ran for 26 years from 1963 to 1989. These "nu-fans" are irritating as they act like Doctor Who only existed since 2005. David Tennant is a good Doctor, but true fans would be able to pull on the qualities of the previous seven in the classic series. (my favourites are Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy, if you want to know)
  5. A Doctor Who fan is NEVER too old to collect DVDs, posters, books, CDs, videos, desktop theme packs, card games, replica Doctor costumes magazines and memorabilia relating to their favourite show. Don't make the mistake of saying that "you're too old!" for this. It's a timeless classic.

The Sixth DoctorOn a side note, I'm quite excited to the idea of all seven living Doctor Who actors getting together for the Children in Need special this year. However, lets hope that we give Colin and Tom Baker wigs to restore their hair to how their Doctors had it, and it's of suitable length for seven Doctors - my feeling is a seven minute special won't be simply long enough for this unique opportunity.
