Dailybooth Narcissists

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING MAY BE CONSTRUED AS A RANT!

So I was floating around on DailyBooth (you know, that waste of server space where people take pictures of themselves for no real reason, and generally seem to communicate like silly twelve year olds who you just want to slap) and noticed that by default, all users have themselves in their “people they follow” lists.

So not only does this artificially bump up the number of followers/friends (bit like on MySpace, where the founder took the liberty of adding himself as a friend), it also seems incredibly narcissistic for people to actually follow themselves. Just the sort of self-esteem/ego boost I think people need these days, don’t you think?

What makes me wonder even more is how this service is financially viable? No ads and lots of expensive servers to hold all those photos…
